The cook supports the Dietary team at The Avenue at Aurora, a post-hospital rehabilitation and skilled nursing care facility, by preparing meals that contribute to residents’ health, comfort, and well-being. The role exists to provide residents with nutritious, appealing meals prepared accurately and on time according to menus, recipes, dietary instructions, and individual needs. It also helps maintain safe food handling and a clean, orderly kitchen.

What you'll do

• Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary requirements
• prepare meals for special dietary needs and physician-ordered restrictions
• ensure meals are served on time and residents receive correct meals and portions
• portion, label, store, and maintain food at appropriate temperatures
• follow food safety, sanitation, and infection-control guidelines
• maintain kitchen cleanliness and operate kitchen equipment
• monitor supplies and report shortages
• complete cleaning duties and required in-service training
• assist in other dietary duties as directed.
