Commercial Construction Intern

Job overview

The Commercial Construction Intern role is onsite in Portage, MI, with pay of $17–$19 per hour. The role supports the Superintendent and Project Engineers on commercial construction projects. The intern helps maintain a safe, organized job site and supports project administration and coordination. This work contributes to site safety, project documentation, communication, and monitoring of building and site conditions while providing exposure to construction professionals and processes.

What you'll do

• Assist the Superintendent with maintaining a safe, organized job site and monitoring site conditions
• coordinate with subcontractors on site safety standards
• assist Project Engineers with Procore documentation, including bid documents, contracts, submittals, RFIs, bulletins, and meeting minutes
• deliver samples and drawings and pick up supplies
• help coordinate meetings and communications
• assist with bid contact calls.

Why this role

High school diploma or GED and current enrollment in a college or university program preferred, ideally Construction Management or a related field. Construction experience and OSHA certification are helpful but not required; telehandler training and certification are expected.
