Dance Specialist, After-School Programs

The Dance Specialist role is in person in New York City, NY, with pay of $20–$25 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. New York Edge provides after-school and community-school programs for students in New York City and Wyandanch. The specialist leads dance activities for children and teens, developing lessons and implementing curricula across program sites. The role supports student development by setting clear learning goals, building relationships, and coordinating with program staff and school communities.

What you'll do

• Teach or co-lead daily dance activities
• design lesson plans and implement curricula
• establish and communicate objectives for lessons, units, and projects
• build relationships with students
• maintain working relationships with program staff, school personnel, and parents
• support program events
• administer pre- and post-assessments and evaluations
• prepare activity materials and explain techniques and safety procedures.

Why this role
