The Controls Technician Apprentice – PLC is an onsite, full-time role based in Charleston, SC, with travel to job sites expected to reach up to 75%. Pay is $19–$26 per hour. The apprentice supports the Critical Technology department while developing building automation skills through supervised training and hands-on work. The approximately 11-week developmental position builds readiness for potential advancement to Controls Technician; advancement is not automatic or guaranteed. The apprentice assists with installation, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning-related work, and documentation for building automation and control systems.

What you'll do

• Learn controls software, tools, safety practices, and workflows through training and coaching
• work alongside experienced technicians with SCADA platforms
• assist with building automation installation in PLC environments including Allen Bradley and Siemens
• document programming changes, configurations, field updates, and assigned work
• assist with preventive maintenance, system checks, and supervised troubleshooting
• collaborate on automation implementation
• travel to job sites as required, with upwards of 75% travel expected.
