Senior Database Administrator

Job overview

The Senior Database Administrator role supports a Vienna, VA-based program, with onsite or hybrid attendance determined by program requirements. Compensation is $125,000–$175,000 per year. The role supports USMC aviation maintenance data systems in DoD and GovCloud environments. The administrator maintains production databases and supporting AWS data services while leading a three-person DBA support rotation. The role contributes to reliable aviation maintenance analytics and reporting through incident response, modernization, security controls, documentation, and technical guidance.

What you'll do

• Administer production Oracle and Sybase ASE databases, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, replication, tuning, backup, and recovery
• operate and troubleshoot AWS Glue, RDS, Redshift, ECS, and Fargate services
• diagnose database, ingestion, transformation, availability, authentication, and reporting issues
• lead the DBA support rotation, coordinate on-call schedules, and manage escalated incidents
• support migration of legacy workloads to AWS
• maintain security controls and DoD/GovCloud compliance documentation
• develop architecture documents, procedures, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans
• mentor mid-level staff and partner with engineering and analytics teams.
