The Admissions Counselor role is onsite in Baltimore, MD. Pay is $55,000–$60,000 per year. Tuerk House is a nonprofit behavioral health system providing recovery services to patients and families in Baltimore. The counselor manages an assigned client caseload and supports substance-use recovery through intake assessment, treatment planning, individual counseling, education, progress documentation, and coordination of transitions. The role also contributes to program quality improvement and client safety.

What you'll do

• Carry an assigned client caseload
• assess client strengths, needs, and treatment plans within seven days of admission
• monitor and document progress at least every 90 days
• provide alcohol and drug education in counseling sessions
• discharge or transfer clients according to regulations
• maintain client records and transition plans
• ensure random urinalysis as required
• provide crisis intervention as needed under applicable laws and supervisor direction
• conduct intake assessments
• attend supervision meetings
• maintain case notes and confidentiality.

Why this role

Requires a bachelor’s degree, at least 15 credits in addiction counseling, certification, licensure, or trainee status designated by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors, clinical supervision experience, two years of substance-use-disorder counseling experience, and Alcohol & Drug Trainee Certification.
