Family Educator

Job overview

The Family Educator role is based in Wichita, KS, and involves frequent evening home visits with schedules that vary to meet family needs; days may run from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Compensation is $18.24 per hour for 40 hours per week. Child Start supports families and young children in the community. The educator works with families of children ages 0–3 to strengthen family well-being and support early development. Through home visits, individualized learning activities, resource connections, and health-prevention guidance, the role helps families pursue their goals and supports children’s growth.

What you'll do

• Conduct weekly home visits
• build relationships and support structures with families
• connect families to community resources
• support family goal-setting
• develop individualized, age-appropriate lesson plans
• encourage preventive health care and routine exams and immunizations
• support pregnant parents
• document work with families
• plan and participate in center play groups
• attend trainings and meetings.
