Community Engagement Specialist

The Community Engagement Specialist role is onsite in Chicago, IL, working from BUILD’s central location in Humboldt Park; pay is $22.38–$23.08 per hour. BUILD is a youth development, gang intervention, and violence prevention organization serving young people and families, and this role is part of its Community Engagement Department. The specialist develops and advances a community safety plan with neighborhood residents, organizations, and service providers. By convening stakeholders, coordinating interventions, and supporting outreach and engagement programs, the role helps align safety efforts with Humboldt Park’s priorities and strengthen community participation.

What you'll do

• Lead development of the Humboldt Park community safety plan and establish and facilitate monthly Community Response and Engagement Workgroup meetings.
• Coordinate services, track objectives and milestones, analyze violence trends, document decisions and action items, and report progress.
• Support community programs and events, conduct door-to-door outreach, recruit and lead volunteers, assist with surveys, and represent BUILD at community meetings and forums.
