What you'll do

• Prepare the surgical field, instruments, supplies, and equipment
• pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon
• maintain sterile technique and communicate breaks or unsafe situations
• perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse
• handle specimens and medications according to procedure
• select appropriate sterilization methods
• support room turnover
• apply knowledge of anatomy and procedures
• provide guidance to lower-level surgical technologists as needed.
