Employment Specialist

The Employment Specialist role is onsite in Troy, NY, with a schedule of 8 a.m.–4 p.m., three days a week. Compensation is $18–$20 per hour. The role supports individuals in community pre-vocational and supported employment programs at Vanderheyden. The specialist builds vocational skills and job readiness, helps individuals obtain and maintain employment in integrated settings, and provides support at worksites while coordinating with individuals, service providers, and community partners.

What you'll do

• Provide direct care and appropriate supervision
• participate in Life Plan meetings
• establish volunteer and work sites based on individual plans and needs
• transport individuals as assigned
• support individuals with treatment-plan tasks
• complete required documentation and assessments
• build community relationships
• help individuals address employment barriers
• monitor progress at worksites
• follow Behavior Support Plans, agency policies, and OPWDD requirements
• participate in required training and staff meetings.
