Pay is $33–$43 per hour, depending on level, experience, and qualifications. SMA America develops solar inverter technology and solutions for photovoltaic power plants. The engineer tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs SMA medium-voltage systems in the field, supporting customers and suppliers, warranty repairs, and technical escalations. The role works with engineering and service teams, documents findings, and contributes to safe, reliable operation of the equipment; responsibilities vary by the level assigned.
What you'll do
- Perform field testing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of medium-voltage systems
- conduct transformer core testing and DGA sampling
- document test results and service work
- maintain assigned tools, vehicle, and spare-parts inventory
- follow site safety practices. At Level II and above, independently troubleshoot and serve as a customer contact. At Level III, lead crews, review reports, mentor technicians, and coordinate with engineering counterparts.
