The Lifeguard role is onsite in Englewood, FL. Compensation is $16–$17 per hour. The YMCA of Southwest Florida says its Venice Pool is closed for maintenance and the position tentatively starts January 1, 2027. The lifeguard supports participant safety in and around the YMCA pool. The lifeguard maintains constant surveillance, applies pool safety rules, and responds to emergencies under YMCA procedures. The role also includes swimmer checks, equipment and hazard checks, cleanliness, records, and chemical testing to help maintain a safe aquatic environment.

What you'll do

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area
• know and follow emergency procedures and respond to emergencies
• apply pool and aquatic-area safety rules
• ensure participants wear appropriate swim attire and footwear
• swim-test first-time swimmers and ensure appropriate flotation devices are used
• refer potential medical concerns to the Aquatics Director
• maintain cleanliness of the deck, structures, and equipment
• keep required records
• find a replacement guard when unable to work and complete paperwork
• check equipment and pool hazards
• perform chemical testing and take appropriate action
• attend required meetings and training
• follow staff safety and cleaning protocols.
