Facilities Technician

Job overview

The Facilities Technician works onsite at South Campus Commons in College Park, MD, on a full-time basis. Compensation is $25–$27 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package. The role supports the student housing community at the University of Maryland. The technician handles maintenance, repairs, inspections, and work orders to help provide residents with a safe, clean, and well-maintained living environment. The position also supports building systems, apartment turnovers, and emergency response, including a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule.

What you'll do

• Complete interior and exterior maintenance projects and work orders
• perform preventive maintenance and inspect buildings, units, and common areas
• maintain and test building and safety systems
• perform plumbing, appliance, HVAC, minor electrical, painting, carpentry, and furniture repairs
• prepare apartments for turnover
• support grounds projects
• maintain tools and work areas
• participate in a rotating 24-hour emergency on-call schedule and respond within 30 minutes
• support peak turnover periods, including mandatory overtime as required
• escort contractors and complete records and reports.
