Service Technician, Water Well & Pump Repair

The Service Technician, Water Well & Pump Repair role is onsite in Headland, AL. Compensation is $18–$22 per hour, plus 1.5% commission on employee-generated sales and $40 additional pay for weekend on-call coverage. Donald Smith Company is a family-owned water well drilling and pump repair company with more than 80 years in business. The technician troubleshoots and repairs residential plumbing, electrical, and water well pump issues at customer locations. The role helps customers restore water and related systems through safe field service, clear communication, and independent repair work after initial training.

What you'll do

• Perform residential plumbing, electrical, and water well pump service and repairs
• troubleshoot problems and identify causes
• communicate with customers, including handling complaints
• recommend repairs and services and assist with sales opportunities
• participate in weekend emergency on-call rotation
• follow safety procedures at customer locations
• travel out of town periodically to support field crews and repairs.

Why this role

Weekend on-call coverage is approximately once per month; schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with some later days and approximately 45–55 hours per week. Out-of-town travel is described as very rare.
