The Intellectual Property Counsel role is onsite in Simi Valley, CA. The annual salary range is $111,000–$169,250. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property, the role supports AeroVironment's global IP portfolio for uncrewed systems, munitions, robotics, autonomy, communications, and related technologies. The counsel helps shape and implement IP strategy by managing patent and trademark portfolios, assessing risk, supporting agreements and litigation, and working with engineering, business, and compliance teams. The work protects innovations and supports the organization's strategic and growth objectives.

What you'll do

• Assist with domestic and international patent and trademark portfolio strategy and management
• conduct freedom-to-operate, clearance, infringement, validity, and prior-art analyses
• conduct invention harvesting
• work with outside counsel on patent and trademark prosecution
• draft, review, and negotiate IP agreements
• advise on IP ownership and rights in commercial relationships and government contracts
• support the IP Management Committee, litigation, and M&A due diligence
• monitor legal and industry developments.
