Substance Abuse Counselor

The Substance Abuse Counselor role is onsite in Oshkosh, WI, at 24-hour community-based residential facilities. Compensation is not specified. The counselor supports Genesis Behavioral Services’ AODA residential treatment program in collaboration with Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division and the Department of Corrections. The role provides counseling, assessment, case management, and ongoing support to help clients work toward treatment-plan objectives, independence, and a drug-free lifestyle. It also monitors clients in the facility and coordinates with treatment teams and corrections agents.

What you'll do

• Provide individual and group counseling
• conduct AODA assessments and screening
• complete case-management assessments
• coordinate client needs through individualized treatment plans
• support community-resource use and basic living skills
• monitor clients in the facility
• document services and maintain records
• coordinate with treatment teams and Department of Corrections agents.
