Senior Electronics Technician — Traffic Systems

Job overview

The Senior Electronics Technician role is onsite in Hampton, VA. Compensation is $25–$35 per hour. The technician supports electronic infrastructure associated with traffic control systems. The role installs, maintains, programs, and repairs traffic-system electronics and communications equipment. By troubleshooting transportation-related networks and devices and assisting traffic-system technicians, the position helps maintain the operation of traffic control and communications infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Install, repair, maintain, program, and modify traffic-control devices and equipment
• work with traffic signal controllers, fiber optics, wireless communications, twisted-pair systems, and IP/Ethernet networks
• maintain and troubleshoot transportation communications, video, and network equipment
• perform preventive maintenance on signs, CCTV cameras, PTZ devices, encoders, decoders, switches, and PLCs
• diagnose issues using electronic theory
• assist traffic-system and signal technicians
• interpret plans and schematics
• use electronic and fiber-optic test equipment and tools
• climb communication towers and operate vehicles and bucket trucks when required
• respond to emergency call-backs during scheduled off-hours as needed.
