The Legal Internship — Summer 2027 is based at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation headquarters in Washington, DC, with a hybrid arrangement described as in-office Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and remote Tuesday and Friday. The internship is unpaid. The Law Center works on litigation and legal advocacy to combat sexual exploitation. The intern supports the Law Center’s legal strategy through litigation, policy, and legal research and drafting. This work contributes to the organization’s efforts to prevent sexual abuse and exploitation and develop the next generation of legal advocates.

What you'll do

• Assist with litigation, including drafting pleadings, briefs, demand letters, and appeals
• research and draft policy advocacy documents and model legislation
• research legal questions and draft memoranda for existing and potential cases
• work directly with the Law Center team and receive mentorship from the General Counsel and other attorneys. Tasks may shift based on organizational needs and opportunities.

Why this role

Open only to law students. Term is May 12–August 6, 2027, with possible extension for six months or one year. Requires 15–40 hours per week and mostly weekday availability during office hours, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. EST.
