After School Chess Teacher

The After School Chess Teacher role is onsite in New York, NY, part-time, with availability required from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at least one day per week. Compensation is $50 per hour. The role supports Educational Alliance’s 14Y After School Program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade across the East Village. The teacher plans and leads inclusive chess classes that build students’ chess skills, strategic thinking, problem-solving, concentration, sportsmanship, and confidence. The role also supervises students, communicates with program staff, and maintains an organized learning environment.

What you'll do

• Submit weekly lesson plans
• lead 45-minute weekly classes for groups of up to 18 students
• teach chess fundamentals
• differentiate instruction
• facilitate games, puzzles, partner activities, and competitions
• organize equipment
• communicate student progress and needs
• supervise students.
