The Assistant Teacher – Head Start Program works onsite in Lansing, MI, at the Harley Franks or Maplehill Head Start Centers. Pay is $16.84 per hour without a CDA, $18.01 per hour with a CDA, or $20.04 per hour with a degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Capital Area Community Services operates the Head Start program. The assistant teacher supports classroom learning and children's social, emotional, intellectual, language, and physical development. The role helps the classroom teacher deliver individualized activities, maintain a safe and nurturing environment, and keep accurate records of children's progress.

What you'll do

• Assist the classroom teacher with individualized education plans and classroom activities
• prepare and maintain a nurturing classroom
• interact appropriately with children
• communicate classroom updates and concerns to the supervisor
• coordinate with the Family Advocate on enrollment and attendance
• work with teachers and support staff
• assist with family events and parent engagement.
