Psychometric Extern

The Psychometric Extern role is primarily remote for students residing in the United States, with a one-week in-person visit to Cognia’s Portsmouth, NH offices during Extern Festival Week. The stipend is $7,000 for the 14-week program; travel, hotel, meals, and equipment costs for the in-person week are covered. Cognia works with education providers to advance learning and improve outcomes for learners. The extern completes a research project in consultation with Cognia psychometricians and researchers and participates in seminars about psychometric practices in educational testing. The program provides an opportunity to contribute research while gaining an in-depth understanding of how measurement methods are applied in education.

What you'll do

• Develop and complete a research project or application in consultation with Cognia psychometricians and researchers
• participate in regular Zoom mentor meetings for goal setting and progress monitoring
• attend seminars on psychometrics in educational testing
• take part in the one-week in-person Extern Festival Week in Portsmouth, NH. Projects may address measurement topics such as calibration, equating, response analysis, cognitive diagnostic models, technology-enhanced items, or other research interests.
