Teacher Assistant – Head Start

The Teacher Assistant – Head Start role is onsite in Mexia, TX. Pay is $12.24–$14.66 per hour. Hill Country Community Action Association operates a Head Start program supporting early childhood learning and child development. The assistant supervises children, supports classroom activities and routines, and works with teachers to maintain a safe, calm learning environment. The role contributes to curriculum continuity through activities, child observations, records, and family-style mealtime support.

What you'll do

• Supervise children and participate in play
• prepare and conduct planned lessons and center activities
• support classroom routines and hygiene
• assist at meals
• maintain child safety and practice emergency procedures
• work with teachers on curriculum
• document children’s files and development plans
• observe and report behavior
• attend meetings and training
• work toward a Child Development Associate credential after the probationary period.
