Traffic Project Engineer

The Traffic Project Engineer role is hybrid, based at the preferred Norwood, MA office, with the option to request remote work up to two days per week. The listed salary range is $89,000–$116,000 per year. BETA Group, Inc. provides engineering, planning, and design services for transportation and other community infrastructure projects. The engineer analyzes traffic conditions and develops plans and studies that support safer, more effective mobility. The role contributes across planning, design, permitting, and construction phases while coordinating with agencies, clients, and multidisciplinary teams and supporting junior staff.

What you'll do

• Conduct traffic analyses, including capacity, signal timing, crash analysis, and level-of-service evaluations
• develop traffic control, signal, signing, and striping plans
• prepare technical reports and traffic impact studies
• coordinate with DOTs, MPOs, municipalities, and stakeholders
• uphold QA/QC
• collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• support project development, permitting, bidding, and construction
• help manage schedules, budgets, and deliverables
• conduct site inspections and field data collection
• support client relationships, proposals, business development, and junior staff mentoring as needed.
