Lead Teacher, Early Childhood Classroom

The Lead Teacher role is onsite in Gallatin, TN; pay is $18.18 per hour. The position serves children and families through the Mid Cumberland Community Action Agency’s classroom program. The teacher plans and supervises developmentally appropriate learning activities, maintains a safe and nurturing classroom, and guides classroom staff. The role also documents children’s progress and works with families to support children’s development.

What you'll do

• Plan and implement activities supporting children’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development
• align lesson plans with developmentally appropriate practices and agency guidelines
• maintain a safe, organized classroom
• guide assistant teachers and aides
• observe and document children’s progress
• support individualized learning plans as needed
• communicate developmental concerns to the Center Manager and families
• follow licensing, CACFP, health, and safety procedures
• maintain classroom records
• engage with families
• participate in training and staff meetings
• obtain a CDA within 12 months of hire if not already held.

Why this role

High school diploma or GED required. CDA, associate, or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field preferred. A CDA credential must be obtained within 12 months of hire if not already held.
