The Exhibitions Development Director role is hybrid-eligible in Chicago, IL, with a stated pay range of $90,000–$95,000. The Field Museum’s mission is to connect people to the natural environment and human history. The role is in the Exhibitions Department and works with Education on exhibition content and programming. The director sets standards and long-term direction for exhibition development, manages staff and resources, and supports teams in creating engaging visitor experiences. The role also guides editing, evaluation, accessibility, community engagement, project planning, and professional development across exhibition projects.

What you'll do

• Establish and refine exhibition development principles, standards, policies, procedures, templates, and tools
• serve as final editor for interpretive text
• collaborate with design and production on accessibility and community engagement
• facilitate developers’ work and iterative visitor testing
• assign project labor and manage resources
• contribute to proposals, concept documents, visitor studies, and other project materials
• represent the department at professional events and consultations
• mentor staff and help resolve conflict.
