The Fiber Optic Specialist is an onsite role in Somerville, MA, paying $38–$48 per hour. This technician supports research and development and production by handling, routing, splicing, testing, and potentially repairing optical fibers throughout the SPARC fusion machine. The role also supports fiber integration, equipment upkeep, safety improvements, and coordination with technicians, engineers, and other departments.

What you'll do

• Handle, route, splice, test, and potentially repair optical fibers throughout the SPARC fusion machine
• perform mechanical integration of small assemblies
• install composite or polymer wrappings
• train technicians as needed
• improve laser and fiber-handling safety protocols
• fulfill manufacturing and R&D fiber needs.
