Job overview

The Seeds Production Research Parent Characterization Intern role is onsite in Waterloo, NE; compensation is $20–$45 per hour. The internship is estimated to run from May through August 2027 and supports Syngenta’s Production & Supply Team. The intern assists with seed parent characterization research through field trials, data collection, agronomic evaluations, and project execution. The work supports seed production and new product development by assessing traits and maintaining research plots through the growing season.

What you'll do

  • Assist with trial design, preparation, maintenance, harvesting, laboratory tasks, and data analysis
  • lead activities at an assigned location
  • manage and execute a project
  • support planting, plot maintenance, treatments, observations, and harvest
  • assist with agronomic trials
  • communicate with project managers, scientists, agronomists, and parent seed colleagues
  • help manage part-time workers
  • prepare a report and presentation
  • follow safety procedures and promote sustainable solutions.
