The Optical Communications Software Engineer, Modem Integration position is onsite in Pleasanton, CA. Target compensation is $120,000–$220,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. The role supports development of Bright Silicon Technologies’ OCTANE free-space optical communications terminal.

What you'll do

• Develop C/C++ modem configuration, telemetry, host-interface, network-interface, and data-transfer software
• define software interfaces and acceptance criteria
• coordinate link states and timing with pointing, acquisition, and tracking software
• implement link state machines and fault recovery
• build Python test tools and automated bench and hardware-in-the-loop tests
• measure link performance and troubleshoot across software, hardware, modem, and optical interfaces.
