IT Security Engineer

Job overview

The IT Security Engineer role is primarily office-based in Sutton, MA, with routine interaction across IT, server rooms, network closets, and production or warehouse areas. Starting pay is $125,000–$150,000 based on experience. The role supports the organization’s cybersecurity program across infrastructure security, compliance, and user awareness. The engineer strengthens security and compliance by managing patching and vulnerability remediation, monitoring and responding to security events, maintaining audit and System Security Plan documentation, and coordinating risk and recovery activities. The role works with the Senior Network Engineer, who retains ownership of server architecture and infrastructure standards.

What you'll do

• Own security patching and vulnerability remediation
• plan, test, and deploy updates
• scan for vulnerabilities and track remediation
• monitor alerts and investigate security events
• support incident response and recovery
• review identity settings and access risks
• support firewall and VPN security operations
• conduct internal audits and risk assessments
• maintain the System Security Plan and compliance evidence
• coordinate disaster recovery testing, security training, documentation, and vendor security tools.

Why this role

3–5+ years of relevant experience; occasional after-hours work may be required for maintenance, incidents, recovery testing, or audits. Occasional travel to other divisions, branches, or customer sites may be required. Preferred certifications include CompTIA Security+, Network+, CySA+, ISC2 CC or CISSP, and CMMC Registered Practitioner.
