The Automation Engineer, Manufacturing Systems role is onsite in Staunton, VA, with compensation of $83,800–$115,710 per year. The engineer joins Cadence’s Engineering team to support manufacturing operations. The role designs, integrates, and improves automated production systems to strengthen safety, quality, efficiency, and reliability. It also supports projects from concept through implementation and works with production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and suppliers on operational improvements.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and integrate automated manufacturing equipment and production systems
• program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, servo systems, vision systems, sensors, drives, and controls
• develop control architectures and equipment specifications
• support equipment builds, testing, commissioning, validation, and production release
• analyze downtime and production data
• implement corrective actions and machine safety systems
• collaborate across functions and support automation projects.
