Soil / Field Technician

Job overview

The Soil / Field Technician role is onsite in Orange, CA, with pay of $21–$30 per hour, depending on experience. Harrington Geotechnical Engineering provides geotechnical, materials-testing, engineering geology, and environmental engineering services to public- and private-sector clients. The technician collects and tests soil and construction-material samples, records findings, and maintains field equipment and data. This work supplies testing and inspection information that supports engineering and construction projects.

What you'll do

• Collect, log, and prepare soil samples for laboratory analysis
• conduct field and laboratory soil testing
• observe soils and construction materials onsite and collect samples according to project plans and specifications
• maintain sample and test records and prepare daily inspection reports
• maintain and calibrate field equipment
• use testing equipment and software for data analysis
• follow safety protocols
• communicate with office staff, clients, engineers, and contractors
• obtain or maintain required certifications.
