The Mental Health Aide (MHA) role is onsite at the Sam Rayburn Memorial VAMC in Bonham, TX. What you'll do

• Listen to patients, observe behavior, conduct rounds every two hours, and report changes to clinical staff
• lead therapeutic and recreational activities
• assist with intake and discharge
• monitor and escort patients
• support individual, group, and behavior therapy
• follow VA policies, patient-safety and infection-control standards
• document care in the EHR
• maintain confidentiality
• contact medical staff when patients faint, have convulsions, or become ill.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of relevant post-secondary study including specified coursework, one year of direct patient-care experience in a rehabilitation treatment program, and an active BLS card.
