The Senior New Product Development Project Engineer - Mechanical is an onsite role based in Orland Park, IL. The annual salary range is $94,200 – $135,000, and this position supports the product realization team at G&W Electric Co. This role manages portions of the new product design process through cross-functional collaboration. The engineer is responsible for leading design tasks, developing project schedules, defining resource needs, and ensuring that new products meet specifications and company goals for cost efficiency and reliability.
What you'll do
- Lead portions of the design process, complete assigned tasks, assist other members of the team, and help ensure project completion in accordance with the schedule.
- Develop schedules, coordinate and manage low complexity projects with little to no supervision.
- Prepare budgets and define resource needs for projects or parts of projects.
- Assist with completion of the Product Realization Stage Gate Requirements.
- Ensure project meets requirements of specifications and standards, while promoting error-proof assembly.
- Create project test plans and complete inside and outside test programs.
- Construct and test prototype components or assemblies.
- Review test data and ensure testing is in line with the test plan and pre-test calculations.
- Perform engineering analysis in design of new products and their subcomponents.
- Perform formal root cause analysis and troubleshooting on new and existing products and processes.
- Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results and project activity.
- Interface with purchasing and vendors in the selection and approval of component parts and assemblies.
- Provide Engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing.
- Consult with Customer representatives to discuss product requirements and specifications.
- Give direction to supporting personnel such as Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
- Follow established procedures for creation and maintenance of CAD databases and libraries.
- Participate in the review of engineering drawings prior to the release to manufacture.
- Ensure that selected parts and processes meet project and company goals for cost efficiency and reliability.
