Construction Estimator

Job overview

The Construction Estimator is based at SFV Services’ Southfield, MI headquarters, with occasional work from that location noted; Eastern or Central time zones are preferred but not required. The role is budgeted at an $80,000 annual base salary. SFV Services provides commercial construction and facilities management solutions for retail, franchise, and hospitality clients. The estimator develops and maintains project cost estimates that inform scope, budgets, schedules, and risk decisions. The role works with clients, design professionals, subcontractors, and internal construction leadership to prepare proposals, forecast costs, and support project planning and delivery.

What you'll do

• Define commercial project scope and client requirements
• interpret building plans and specifications
• perform quantity takeoffs and unit cost analysis
• complete bid forms
• solicit and evaluate subcontractor proposals
• track estimate changes and cost forecasts
• conduct site visits as necessary
• clarify scope with clients and design professionals
• provide value engineering
• assist with change-order estimates and project scheduling
• ensure compliance with standards, codes, and contracts
• maintain pricing
• prepare proposals for approval
• track estimate status with clients
• report to the Director of Construction/VP.
