Ophthalmic Technician

The Ophthalmic Technician role is onsite in Honolulu, HI, at the client’s facility. Compensation is $19–$29.50 per hour. The role supports ophthalmic services and refractions at the Laser Center, contributing to quality care for a diverse beneficiary population. The technician performs diagnostic examinations and supports patients before, during, and after ophthalmic procedures. The role helps clinicians deliver safe care through testing, surgical assistance, equipment preparation, documentation, and patient support.

What you'll do

• Perform diagnostic examinations and document procedures and care
• refer patients to an optometrist or ophthalmologist for consultative opinions as needed
• assist with preoperative evaluations and diagnostic tests
• prepare the operating room and maintain a sterile environment
• assist surgeons during procedures, including laser refractive surgery
• support contact lens care
• clean and sterilize instruments
• assist with postoperative refractions and testing
• provide and document telephone assistance
• participate in clinical research and student education.

Why this role

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with eight work hours plus an unpaid lunch break. Saturday work may be required infrequently.
