The specialist coordinates communication, appropriate receiving services, bed placement, and transport arrangements so patients can transition to the hospital or other facilities through an organized transfer process.

What you'll do

• Conduct initial telephone intake for transfer requests
• arrange teleconferences among physicians, transport staff, referral sources, and receiving staff
• operate telephone, radio, database, and mapping systems
• coordinate transport mode based on patient acuity
• dispatch Life Flight medical crews according to procedures
• monitor weather and flight-following systems
• document and track patient acceptance and transport processes.

Why this role

Training as an EMT, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Air Traffic Controller, or ED Technician is preferred; high school diploma or GED and two years of related experience are required.
