Remote Senior Systems Engineer, Voice Systems (FAA)

Job overview

The Remote Senior Systems Engineer, Voice Systems (FAA) role is remote, with occasional travel to the FAA Technical Center, vendor facilities, laboratories, and other locations as operational needs arise. Compensation is $135,000–$175,000 per year. The role supports FAA APC / Voice Switch Systems and modernization of air traffic control communications. The engineer provides systems engineering expertise across the lifecycle of critical FAA voice communications systems, from requirements and technology assessment through integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment. The work supports reliability, interoperability, security, and operational effectiveness across the National Airspace System.

What you'll do

• Support modernization and sustainment of FAA air traffic control voice systems
• develop and refine requirements
• evaluate voice switch technologies and network architectures
• support acquisition planning, source selections, vendor assessments, and engineering reviews
• analyze air-to-ground and ground-to-ground trunks and interfaces
• develop solutions involving analog, digital, IP, and VoIP technologies
• support integration, verification, validation, testing, acceptance, and deployment
• maintain engineering documentation and plans
• assess performance and risks
• troubleshoot complex communications and integration issues
• provide technical guidance to project teams.
