Helpline Specialist – Evening Shift

The Helpline Specialist – Evening Shift works onsite in Bossier City, LA. Compensation is $15–$16 per hour. The Louisiana Association on Compulsive Gambling operates 24/7 helplines for mental health, substance use, problem gambling, and suicide prevention concerns. The specialist provides compassionate crisis support through calls, texts, and chats, helping people assess immediate concerns, identify next steps, and connect with appropriate resources. Accurate documentation, crisis protocols, and collaboration with emergency and community services support safe and consistent assistance.

What you'll do

• Answer crisis calls, texts, and chats
• build trust through compassionate, nonjudgmental communication
• assess suicide, self-harm, mental health, substance-use, and safety risks
• use crisis intervention techniques
• collaborate with emergency services, mobile crisis teams, and community resources when necessary
• provide resources and follow-up support
• document interactions
• participate in training, coaching, and quality improvement.

Why this role
