The Technical Accounting & Tax Compliance Manager role is an in-office position in Durango, CO, near La Plata County Airport. Pay is $115,000–$140,000 per year. The role reports to the CFO and partners closely with the Controller as Spriggs Excavation scales its financial reporting, compliance, and risk management. The manager owns technical accounting and tax compliance processes that support accurate financial reporting and operational controls. The role contributes to month-end close, construction contract revenue recognition, multi-state tax filings, and compliance processes across the company’s construction operations.

What you'll do

• Own GAAP revenue recognition under ASC 606 and prepare the monthly work-in-progress schedule
• support month-end close with equipment costing, fixed asset, depreciation, and lease accounting entries
• manage multi-state tax compliance, fuel tax filings, licensing, lien waivers, and subcontractor compliance
• reconcile WIP schedules to job cost and billing reports
• prepare schedules for owners, lenders, sureties, and auditors
• support budgeting, forecasts, and job-level variance analysis
• maintain internal controls and compliance documentation.

Why this role

Requires 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred. Advanced Excel skills required.
