The Starburst Platform Engineer position is hybrid in Charlotte, NC, according to the job description. Pay is $58–$60 per hour. The engineer supports Wells Fargo’s enterprise data virtualization platform powered by Starburst on Google Cloud Platform. The role deploys, administers, optimizes, and supports the platform so business users and engineering teams can access and analyze data across cloud and on-premises sources through a unified SQL layer. It also provides technical support, query optimization, platform governance, and user enablement.

What you'll do

• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Starburst Enterprise Platform on GCP
• manage Starburst clusters on GKE, including scaling, upgrades, patching, and optimization
• support integrations with BigQuery, Cloud SQL, GCS, Iceberg catalogs, Teradata, Oracle, and other data sources
• implement IAM, RBAC, authentication, authorization, and governance controls
• support production, non-production, disaster recovery, and business continuity environments
• optimize SQL workloads and troubleshoot query and concurrency issues
• serve as primary technical contact for platform consumers
• resolve incidents and access issues
• conduct onboarding and knowledge-transfer sessions
• monitor platform health, plan capacity, automate operations, and support compliance and release activities.
