Senior Data Engineer – Data Quality & Systems Forensics

Job overview

The Senior Data Engineer – Data Quality & Systems Forensics role is a six-month, full-time engagement. It may be hybrid in Carson, CA, or remote with strong Pacific Time overlap. Total compensation for the six-month engagement is $70,000–$80,000. The role supports Dermalogica’s Global Data & AI team. The engineer investigates data discrepancies across systems, identifies root causes, and owns remediation through validation and closure. The work strengthens data reliability by correcting underlying issues and establishing monitoring, reconciliation, documentation, and controls to prevent recurrence.

What you'll do

• Investigate and trace data discrepancies across source systems, databases, integrations, warehouses, and reporting
• own data-quality issues through remediation, validation, backfill, and closure
• audit SQL jobs, stored procedures, ETL processes, dependencies, and transformation logic
• correct historical data and reconcile it to source systems
• improve master-data mappings
• replace fragile manual processes with governed pipelines where appropriate
• build reconciliation checks, monitoring, and alerts
• improve dependency management and change controls
• document data lineage and system dependencies
• coordinate with internal teams, partners, and vendors.
