Junior Musical Theatre Director

The Junior Musical Theatre Director works onsite in Danville, CA, for approximately 25 hours per week, including preparation and meetings; rehearsals are Monday through Friday between 3:45 and 5:45 p.m. Pay is $25–$30 per hour, commensurate with experience. I Can Do That! Performing Arts Center creates inclusive theatre experiences for young performers and the community. The director leads the artistic and educational process for junior musical theatre productions, guiding rehearsals and performances while supporting young performers’ confidence, teamwork, and performance skills. The role collaborates with creative and production staff to deliver productions in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

What you'll do

• Develop and communicate an artistic vision
• direct staging, character development, storytelling, and performance
• plan and lead rehearsals
• coordinate with the music director, assistant director, and stage manager
• attend production meetings, auditions, technical and dress rehearsals, and performances
• communicate with students, families, and production staff
• support student safety and development
• assist with production activities as requested. Teaching classes or intensives may be part of the role as needed.
