Operations Technology Intern, Project Controls

The Operations Technology Intern role is onsite in Phoenix, AZ, and pays $22 per hour. The position requires in-office presence for all hours worked and supports West Yost’s water and wastewater engineering and technology projects. West Yost works with public agencies on water, wastewater, and stormwater solutions for resilient communities. The intern supports project setup, financial tracking, scheduling, invoicing, progress monitoring, and reporting alongside project managers, engineers, technical staff, and accounting. The work helps project teams monitor performance and deliver projects effectively while building project controls skills.

What you'll do

• Assist with project setup, budgets, phases, tasks, labor allocations, and work breakdown structures
• maintain and analyze project financial information and flag variances
• coordinate monthly invoicing and prepare draft invoices and supporting documents
• support schedules, milestones, and work plans
• prepare status reports and dashboards
• track changes, risks, decisions, and deliverables
• coordinate project controls activities
• improve templates, procedures, dashboards, and reporting tools.
