Senior Environmental Quality Keeper

Job overview

The Senior Environmental Quality Keeper role is onsite in Layton, UT, with compensation of $22–$24 per hour. The position supports the facility’s animal collection and reports to the Marine and Wildlife Curators. The role exists to maintain suitable environmental conditions across aquatic and terrestrial habitats, supporting animal health, welfare, and breeding needs. It also helps the curators oversee animal keepers, coordinate habitat systems and maintenance, and provide accurate environmental reporting and regulatory records.

What you'll do

• Monitor aquatic water quality and terrestrial temperature, humidity, substrate, and air quality
• audit adherence to environmental protocols and troubleshoot imbalances
• assist curators in leading, training, and mentoring Animal Keepers
• oversee habitat maintenance schedules and weekly deep cleans
• collaborate with veterinary, curator, husbandry, facilities, and life-support teams
• report habitat conditions and environmental data
• support habitat upgrade and exhibit planning
• maintain records and follow applicable regulations and animal-welfare standards.
