The Data Engineer III – Subject Matter Expert position is onsite in Norfolk, VA. Compensation is $175,000–$185,000 per year. National Capitol Contracting is seeking a senior data engineer to support enterprise-level data initiatives in a mission-driven environment. The role designs, develops, optimizes, and maintains data pipelines, databases, analytics platforms, and reporting solutions. It supports operational and strategic decision-making through reliable data, secure database administration, and enterprise reporting, while providing technical leadership and mentorship.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
• integrate and transform structured and unstructured data
• administer PostgreSQL databases, including installation, security, backup, recovery, monitoring, and performance
• develop SQL and Python solutions
• design data models and schemas
• develop and administer Qlik Sense applications and dashboards
• support Power BI, Tableau, and other reporting environments
• monitor data quality and integrity
• collaborate with stakeholders
• implement governance and security controls
• troubleshoot production issues
• document architectures and processes
• mentor junior engineers and analysts.
