The Residential Counselor role is onsite in Bethpage, NY. Compensation is $23.25 per hour. The Mental Health Association of Nassau County is a nonprofit membership organization focused on mental health advocacy, education, program development, and direct services. The counselor supports adults with mental illness living in the organization’s residences, helping them build daily living skills, participate in community life, and work toward greater independence. The role also coordinates care, documents progress, and responds to crises and emergencies.

What you'll do

• Support activities of daily living, personal care, and skills building
• plan and prepare meals and address dietary needs
• coordinate psychiatric, medical, and dental care
• develop and review person-centered service plans
• conduct restorative service sessions and document progress
• manage crises and emergencies
• coordinate transportation for recreational activities
• maintain residence safety and upkeep
• hold and document weekly community meetings
• attend staff meetings and training.
