The purpose of this role is to demonstrate knowledge of surgical instruments and principles of sterile technique, anticipate the needs of the surgical suite, and collaborate with the surgical team to improve customer satisfaction.

What you'll do

• Assembles supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Prepares sterile instrument table as well as gathering equipment after procedure for cleaning and sterilization.
• Accurately completes all sponge, sharp, and instrument counts and reports all discrepancies.
• Positions patient accordingly to type of surgery.
• Prepares patient skin for surgery.
• Provides comfort and support pre-operative patients.
• Transports patients to and from surgical suite.
• Assists the surgical team in surgical procedures.
• Cleans and prepares room between procedures and after last case.
• Maintains a safe work area.
• Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
• Properly handles specimens.
• Obtains specific supplies, non-narcotic medications and equipment.

What we're looking for

Education

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent

Experience

Completion of an Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program or experience working as a scrub tech
