The Chemistry Intern — Thermal Practice role is onsite in Aurora, IL, with work in office, laboratory, and field environments. Pay is $20–$24 per hour. ESi’s Thermal practice investigates complex problems involving fire, explosion, chemical, electrical, and fire-protection engineering. The internship supports consultants conducting forensic investigations by assisting with inspections, evidence documentation, file review, and report writing. It also provides hands-on work with materials characterization equipment and microscopes, contributing observations and findings to investigation work.

What you'll do

• Assist consultants during site and laboratory forensic inspections
• support file review and report writing
• document artifacts and evidence through photography, videography, notes, and measurements
• learn and use materials characterization equipment and microscopes, then report findings. The internship is expected to be 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
• enrolled students must take no more than two classes and be able to work at least 32 hours weekly. Must be able to travel for trips of three days in length.
