The Electric Propulsion Engineering Intern (Summer 2027) is an onsite, full-time role in Redondo Beach, CA, for 12 weeks from May/June through August/September 2027. Compensation is $30 per hour. The intern supports development and testing of electric propulsion systems for Impulse Space’s Mira spacecraft and technologies for deep-space missions. The intern contributes to propulsion engineering work through test-facility support, hardware development, test execution and analysis, and collaboration on integration. The role provides hands-on experience across concept design, lab testing, manufacturing, and hardware integration.

What you'll do

  • Assist with design, assembly, and operation of electric propulsion test facilities, including vacuum chambers and diagnostics equipment. Support development, fabrication, analysis, and testing of propulsion hardware and ground support equipment. Prepare test setups, execute procedures under supervision, and analyze results. Assist with CAD component design, engineering drawings, and documentation. Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, and controls engineers on integration and testing
  • participate in hardware builds, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
