CNC Setup and Operate Machinist

The CNC Setup and Operate Machinist role is onsite in Elmira, NY. Compensation is $25.00–$29.50 per hour. The posting requires five years of experience in a First Class Machinist capacity. The role sets up and operates computer numerical control lathes and mills to produce parts that meet specifications and quality requirements. It supports production by interpreting technical documents, preparing tooling and machine settings, monitoring operations, verifying finished parts, and maintaining equipment and work areas.

What you'll do

• Read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and technical data
• mount and align tooling and workpieces
• select and install tooling
• retrieve, modify, or create machine programs
• set machine controls
• monitor machine operation
• conduct dry runs and obtain first-piece approval
• verify finished parts and maintain control-plan records
• deburr work
• correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining
• clean equipment and work areas
• perform scheduled machine maintenance.
